1930s Hepworths Trilby
I found this amazing Hepworth’s hat quite a few years ago. It’s the oldest piece of Hepworth’s gear I’ve come across or seen. Hepworth’s was a rather low end but high volume retailer back in the day, founded as a tailor’s shop, grew into the biggest UK clothing manufacturer, and now trades as “Next”. Quite a few Hepworth’s suits from the 30s-50s come up for sale quite regularly.
This hat is remarkable for its taupe colour and light russet brown hatband. It’s a very striking hat indeed!
The label is in a very early style, and handwritten “Colombo/225” in Indian Ink.
