Two ties depicting floral motifs. The first, from the late 1940s, made by Fashion Craft Cravats, with a swooping in nice shades of green and light brown, with what appear to be daisies. The second, from the late 1930s, for some unknown reason appears to depict the bane of my life: bindweed. This stuff grows over my garden fence and in amongst my shrubbery from the neighbour’s side. It’s awful, awful stuff, twisting its choking tendrils around the stems of other plants and shading them with its big flat cardiac leaves, poking its ugly head through my sweet-smelling honeysuckle, like a rat in a wildflower meadow.
