Rain Sheeting

This 1930s necktie is rather hard to interpret. The warp threads are white and the weft red and blue. it looks like it’s representing clouds, and using Jacquard weaving to raise the warp threads, and cutting on the bias, gives the impression of rain sheeting under the clouds. Or at least that’s what it looks like to me …
